What has changed?
We've updated how 360 assessment scores are calculated. Self-ratings are now excluded from overall scores and eNPS calculations.
This means your 360 scores reflect only external rater feedback - from managers, peers, direct reports, and other raters - giving you a clearer picture of how others perceive the individual being assessed.
This change applies to:
All new 360 assessments going forward
All historic 360 assessments (scores have been recalculated)
Why did we make this change?
This update aligns our methodology with assessment science best practices. Here's the rationale:
Self-ratings introduce bias. Research consistently shows that individuals rate themselves differently than others rate them - often higher. Including self-scores can inflate overall ratings and obscure gaps that matter for development.
External feedback is the point. The purpose of a 360 is to understand how others experience an individual. Self-perception is valuable context, but it shouldn't influence the aggregate score that represents external perspectives.
Cleaner benchmarking. When comparing individuals or tracking progress over time, removing self-score variance improves signal quality. You're comparing apples to apples.
What about my historic 360 data?
All historic 360 scores have been recalculated using the updated methodology. This ensures consistency - whether you're looking at a 360 from last month or last year, the scoring logic is the same.
You may notice that scores have changed. In most cases, scores will be slightly lower than before (since self-rating tends to skew higher). The relative positioning of individuals typically remains similar.
How do I know if a report was affected?
For the next 30 days, you'll see a banner notification when viewing 360 reports that were recalculated.
Is self-rating data still collected?
Yes. Subjects still complete self-assessments as part of the 360 processes. This data is captured and displayed in the self-column in the report - it's just no longer factored into the overall score calculation.

FAQs
Q: Were my old scores "wrong"? Not wrong - just calculated differently. The previous methodology was a valid approach; this update reflects a refinement toward industry best practices.
Q: Should I revisit decisions I made based on old scores? Unlikely to be necessary. The rank-ordering of individuals typically stays consistent. If you have concerns about a specific case, we're happy to review it with you.
Q: Does this affect organizational health surveys or other assessments? No. This change only applies to 360 assessments. Org-wide surveys, eNPS (at the org level), and other assessment types are unaffected.
