How do I set up an Org Hierarchy in Entromy?

The Org Hierarchy tool in Entromy helps you unlock management-level insights by mapping out your team’s structure. Follow these steps to set it up and review common issues you may encounter.

🧭 Step-by-step: Setting up your Org Hierarchy

  1. Navigate to participants page of a selected survey and Click on Create org hierarchy:

Select the survey you want to create the org hirarchy based on, Navigate to participants page and click on Create Org Hierarchty. You’ll see progress steps like:
Select Manager Identifier → Select Organization Leader → Review Data.

  2. Select Manager Identifier
Choose a unique column from your user file that identifies each employee’s manager—ideally Manager email or Manager ID. Avoid using names due to duplicates.

  3. Select Organization Leader
Pick the person at the top of the hierarchy (typically a CEO or Managing Director). The system only lists users without managers.

Tip: Don't see your organization leader in the list? Make sure they do not have a manager assigned in your data and restart the process.

4. Review & Validate Data
The system checks for errors before proceeding. All dropdowns must be completed to continue.

5. Generate Org Hierarchy
Click “Generate hierarchy”. Success is confirmed with a message and an option to download the .XLS file.

5. Fix Any Errors
Inline error correction is available for issues like:

  • Manager not found

  • Duplicate managers

  • Mutually assigned managers

  • Manager missing info

For each issue, you’ll get:

  • A description of the error

  • Suggested fix

  • A dropdown to select a valid replacement or assign "No manager"
