Seeding Survey Questions

On the Entromy platform, you can proactively insert statements as possible answer choices to open-ended questions. This process is known as "seeding."

Why seed?

"Seeding" will ensure the first few (2-3) participants have statement responses to vote on for the initial portion of the digital focus group. It will also enable the organization to test certain hypotheses that may exist around certain organizational domains (e.g. If you think there are specific issues or risks)

When to seed:

Entromy recommends seeding surveys in smaller organizations (less than 50 people) or if there are compelling hypotheses you want to test. Seeding questions will allow the first participants to vote on the seeded statements rather than complete the survey without statements shown for voting.

How to seed:

  1. Log into your account at live.entromy.com

  2. Navigate to Surveys, select the survey you want to seed questions for

  3. Select section 2 called 'Questions' and then select the icon 'Seed Questions'

4. Select the question you would like to seed and enter your response.

Note: you don't need to seed all questions, only those for which you have a hypothesis you'd like to test.

Examples: For the question "What are examples of inefficient processes or things that if changed would allow us to free up lots of time, reduce errors and better achieve our goals?" you might consider seeding responses such as "Manual Data Entry: Automating data entry tasks using software or tools can significantly reduce errors and free up time." or "Paper-based Documentation: Transitioning from paper documentation to digital records and document management systems can enhance accessibility, reduce clutter, and minimize the risk of document loss."
