How do open-ended comments work?

At Entromy, we take privacy very seriously. If there are ever any concerns about security, please encourage participants to reach out to our team.

As part of our survey, we may ask participants to provide their agree/disagree reaction to other survey takers' open-ended comments. As participants provide comments, our Natural Language Processing reviews the comments for any identifiable information (e.g. personal names) or concerning language (e.g. comments on alcohol or drugs). After reviewing, the comments become part of a digital focus group that allows for a collaborative, transparent opportunity for employees to provide anonymous feedback. Allowing users to agree/disagree with other participants also helps preserve anonymity: from the start, users are able to provide collective feedback that reduces the ability to identify individual survey participants.

In order to further maintain anonymity, we ensure that the number of participants within digital focus groups are of sufficient size such that individuals are weighing in on a range of individuals' comments and therefore the source cannot be determined. At times, survey participants may see comments that do not feel relevant to them. Survey participants are free to skip these questions by simply leaving the feedback as neutral.

Options to customize:

  • You can turn off the digital focus group for a subset of open ended questions by updating the specific question's setting to reflect '# of ranked statements: 0'

  • You can turn off the digital focus group entirely from the 'Settings' icon from within the survey set up but toggling OFF 'Enable Voting'

  • You can set the digital focus group to only show statements for participants within the same demographic (ie Department, Location)
